The Starry Sky Above It All

“I don't know anything with certainty, but seeing the stars makes me dream.”
-Vincent van Gogh

I saw him standing in a cypresses field underneath the burning sun,
with his eyes lost in the stars that made him dream and love.
He was there fighting a battle of years against an inclement world,
a battle already lost for every marvelous and unintended soul.

He was moving his hand with the passion that only heaven gives,
the burning passion of a violent fire that nobody can see.
He and his simple desires, he and his visions until the end of life,
beauty flooding every brushstroke he makes through space and time.

I saw him dreaming his painting and painting his dreams,
what would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?
The night is always more alive and richly colored than the day
Illusions may fade away, but the sublime will always remain.

Alone as only marvelous and unintended souls can be,
He used to feel deeply, he used to feel tenderly.
Sadness will last forever, were the last words he whispered to me
and he burned out with the violent passion that only heaven can give...

Upon the Waves Behind the Rainbows End

Sailing on a sea of silence with my eyes on the stars
Underneath the black-blue light that´s fulfilling the night
You flew away and took with you my time and space
And life became a whisper that is slowly fading away

I cried a hundred thousand tears without feeling regret
I shouted out your name countless times upon the waves
I tried to catch the dying light behind the rainbows end
I kept coming back to you when I needed to feel safe

And everything you left behind is already gone
And every word you never said is already lost
I´ve put a million miles under my tired soul
I´ve put a all my second chances behind the door

Hanging from your memory in the storm
Waiting for the silver sunshine that you own
A single word from your lips and I´ll be forever free
In your morning glory I will breathe and live

You flew away and took with you my time and space
And life became a whisper that is slowly fading away
I shouted out your name countless times upon the waves
I tried to catch the dying light behind the rainbows end

And everything you left behind is already gone
And every word you never said is already lost
But I keep waiting for your silver light to set me free
You are the morning glory I will forever live in...
